The Golf Channel has been building its web presence recently. They have been building two new internet properties in particular that I would like to talk a bit about in this post. The first is the Golf Channel’s new “Tours” section of their site which covers all major golf tournaments, and the other is their Golf Now website, which is quickly becoming the biggest golf course directory online.
Golf Channel – Tours
The premise of the website appears to be one central location where you can get a quick glance at the leaderboard of all major professional tournaments in progress. The major tours covered are:
– PGA Tour
– European Tour
– LPGA Tour
– Champions Tour
– Nationwide Tour
– LPGA Futures Tour
Anyone interested in following all the major tours will come to find this to be a very useful resource. Right on the page, you get a snapshot of who is in the Top 5 of every tournament, with links available for you to follow to learn more.
The Golf Now website is a national directory of golf courses that allows you to search within your area. The value of Golf Now is that it lists most local courses in your area, in one place. This makes the decision making process of “where to play” much easier. You can research courses, prices and even tee time availability right on the Golf Now website.
Probably the coolest part of Golf Now is the tee time calendar for your area. It is literally a calendar you can look at that shows you available tee times at various courses along with the cost of greens fees at each course. It does a good job of covering all bases in the decision making process.
The Golf Channel has been making a push to develop a web presence that adds convenience to the golfers experience. With their work on Golf Now and the “Tours” section of their website, they have done exactly that. If you’re looking for more information, I would recommend checking out the links at the top of this post for more information.
